Concerts on the Green

I just happened to stumble on this by accident but apparently on Fridays in El Cajon they have a little mini festival where they will have a band play and people just come to hang out and have a good time.  I had just gotten out of the library. It's one of my favorite places to go when I just need to get away and I definitely needed that so I stayed in there right up to closing time.   When I exited I could see them setting up for the festivities right across the street.  I approached an elderly woman to get the scoop and she told me all about it.  She was very enthusiastic about the event.  She had already reserved her spot with her lone lawn chair firmly established dead center front row and there was still at least an hour before it began.  Someone with that much enthusiasm for this event must be looking forward to quite a show so I figured why not give it a shot.
I have to admit the event wasn't too bad, especially the part about it being no charge.  It's more than that though, sometimes I just like to see people having a good time.  I'm not sure whether I just want to live vicariously, or if its just the energy it produces but its just an atmosphere I like to be in even if I am not participating.  Here, the people have no problem approaching the stage and dancing their little boogies.  Children are very big participants as well.  You'll see them running around playing or even dancing in front of the stage themselves The music was pretty good, too.  This event hosted a somewhat unique group called Middle Earth Ensemble..  I enjoyed the smooth rhythmic tones which were both fun and relaxing, something I definitely needed after recent events.  There was one thing that stole the show for me by far..and that would be the belly dancers.  I didn't even know they were there at first because they didn't come out right away.  So
Belly Dancer on Stage
what seemed like halfway through the show I was about to move on to the next thing when the girls suddenly
appeared and from that point on I was on the hook.  Belly-dancing really is a true art form.  It's almost mesmerizing the way a women can move their bodies the way they do and with so much style.  It's definitely within a class of it's own.

I'm really glad a I got the chance to catch this event.  From what I hear they do this every Friday, hosting a different style band every week.  If they all have the same vibrant atmosphere as this one then I would say they are worth checking out
