Marina Del Rey

Marina Del Rey is host to over 5,000 privately-owned boats making it the largest man-made marina in the world. I experienced the sheer size of this harbor as I ventured around it to explore the circumference.  One of my favorite areas is a nice little spot called Chace Park.  It is very clean and well-kept and has a nice array of park benches and gazebos right next to the water.  I like to watch the ships sailing in and out while I enjoy my little afternoon snack, or maybe write in my memoirs or read a book in quiet. If I were to ever find a way to settle in one spot I could definitely see myself living on a boat. I would have the freedom to move about as I please, yet still able to maintain the security of having a roof over my head. I'm not sure what the costs involved would be to do something like that, probably the same (if not more) as having your own condo, but I'll bet it's worth it. When all of the land lovers of the world begin to stress me out.. all I have to do is just plot a coordinate and untie my home to find my peace and serenity at the sea... and just sail away.

  1. The boat is a pretty cool idea and I have thought about it, but I'm not much of a sea man. I think I'd rather live in a caravan. It's got the same sort of mobility that I love, but on dry land. :)

  2. I can't argue with that on, buddy. At the end of the day nothing beats good ol' dirt 'n soil.

  3. all the landlovers are stressing me out too! i too have had this fantasy to just sail away and be with the peace of the sea...but that is just an ideal notion...actually sailing long term is not that glamourous unless you happen to have access to a luxury supercat or something...i mean BOXY TOILETS for one? urghhh
